The Language Conservancy’s vision is to preserve the maximum number of endangered languages in the Americas and the world.
They believe that all languages have an inherent right to exist – that they are fundamental and irreplaceable facets of a people’s culture and humanity’s linguistic heritage.
The Language Conservancy is dedicated to restoring endangered languages to stability and health, documenting the benefits of language recovery to indigenous communities and individuals, increasing international public awareness of language loss and recovery, and supporting indigenous tribes committed to revitalizing their languages.
The Bloomington Peace Choir is a non-audition community choir with the purpose of promoting peace and human rights in our world.
They currently practice on Tuesday evenings and perform at several community events throughout the program year (August – May), such as peace vigils, the Farmer’s Market, 4th Street Arts Festival, Christmas Canopy of Lights, Martin Luther King Day, retirement homes, and other non-religious events.
They welcome all singers!
Art Remains collects clean, safe creative material donations (from scraps and teaching supplies to art supplies and unique odds and ends) from households, individuals, businesses, and industries.
They redistribute them as low-cost supplies for art, education, invention, and other creative purposes.
A project of the Center for Sustainable Living, Discardia is a hub for creative artisans who produce items from used materials. Discardia is all about finding creative ways to redirect unnecessary waste into artistic expression.
They’re behind the annual Trashion/Refashion Runway Show. This show is open to all skill levels. Anyone can submit their design, and any model can walk the runway, regardless of body type or experience.
Amity Trio’s mission is to contribute to a more equitable distribution of artistic voices on a global scale by performing music by underrepresented composers, for a variety of audience interests, locations, and socioeconomic strata.
To accomplish this mission, Amity Trio offers creative programming in traditional and nontraditional venues, seeks out meaningful interdisciplinary collaborations, pursues deeper cultural understanding, and is a catalyst in the musical dissemination cycle of commissions, performances, recordings, community engagement, and education.
Technology has become a vital part of our everyday lives, but not for seniors, who often feel left behind. In an effort to bridge the digital divide for seniors, the TechHeroes program fosters improved mental health and skills through the supported, effective use of technology. Many residents love to research old friends contact information, watch video of concerts, shop, email and connect with family on social media.
