My Flying University (MFU) is a modern resistance school. In the tradition of Poland’s underground Flying Universities that defied authoritarian regimes, we’re building a refuge for truth in an era where books are banned, teachers are silenced, and facts are labeled dangerous.
OUR MISSION
My Flying University is an independent educational platform committed to academic freedom, truth-telling, and inclusive knowledge.
We bring together educators, learners, and activists to resist censorship, rebuild trust, and imagine something better.

OUR VISION

We’re building a future where truth-telling, critical inquiry, and inclusive education are not acts of defiance, but foundational rights.
In that world, educators can teach without fear and learners are free to seek out knowledge. Our goal is to let communities rebuild what was stolen.
We are lighting the lanterns for those who are ready to find their way there.
OUR ROOTS
Born in Poland under imperial and authoritarian rule, the original Flying Universities defied censorship by gathering in secret to teach forbidden knowledge. This included subjects banned by the state, like Polish history, literature, philosophy, and science. Many students were women or political dissidents who were denied access to formal education.
My Flying University continues in their spirit, offering truth and critical inquiry wherever it has been banned or distorted.

OUR VALUES
Truth Without Permission
We believe truth should not be subject to censorship, whether that be by distortion or intimidation. We resist educational gag orders, historical erasure, and propaganda. We provide access to what has been hidden from the public or manipulated to better suit a narrative, because people deserve to understand the world they live in.
Learning as Liberation
We see education as a tool for personal and collective freedom. We believe that knowledge, especially knowledge from marginalized voices, can awaken and transform. Learning should not just explain the world but empower people to change it.
Centering the Silenced
We center the histories and voices that have been erased or demonized. Our platform uplifts the stories of those targeted for their identity or ideas and creates space for them to learn and thrive.
Courageous Curiosity
We honor brave questions and open minds. We create space to unlearn and rethink dominant narratives. We welcome learners of all backgrounds who come in good faith.
Action With Integrity
We believe knowledge should lead to action. We offer concrete ways to resist injustice, support those under attack, and rebuild better systems, from small steps to deep engagement. We value strategy, sustainability, and care over performative outrage.
Community Over Isolation
We fight isolation with solidarity. We foster connection between learners, educators, and activists who are navigating systems designed to divide or discourage them. We’re building a space that makes people feel seen and supported.
Safety and Protection
We protect each other’s dignity, agency, and well-being. That means clear boundaries, strong moderation, pseudonymity when needed, and zero tolerance for harassment or bigotry. Everyone deserves to learn and speak without fear.
OUR PRINCIPLES
This is a classroom, not a battlefield.
We are trying to create an ideal learning environment for our community, which requires structure, clarity, and mutual respect. That means discussions can’t be a free-for-all internet forum.
Growth requires discomfort.
Real learning can feel uncomfortable, especially when it confronts our assumptions or implicates us in systems of harm. But discomfort isn’t something to avoid. It’s something to learn from so that we can make changes.
Learning is a lifelong process.
No one has all the answers (not even educators). Social, historical, and scientific knowledge evolves, and so should we. Being a good educator means staying open-minded and curious. It’s essential to recognize the limitations of your knowledge and position yourself as a co-learner and guide, rather than an absolute authority.
History is not neutral.
All historical narratives reflect choices about what stories are centered, whose perspectives matter, and what details are emphasized. Recognizing these choices helps us understand how power shapes our understanding of the past and present. The way history is told is never unbiased. History is written by those in power, often at the expense of those they’ve harmed. Teaching history critically means exposing those distortions and recovering the stories that have been erased.
Smashing is easy. Building is powerful.
It’s easy to tear down broken systems. It’s much harder (and more important) to imagine and build something better. Anger is valid, but without direction, it burns out. We’re here to channel that energy into constructive change, rather than exhausting cynicism.
A rising tide lifts all boats.
Freedom and justice are not zero-sum. When one group gains rights, we all benefit. Liberty is interconnected, and intersectionality helps us see that clearly.
The Master’s tools will never dismantle the Master’s house.
We can’t create liberatory spaces by replicating oppressive systems. Our methods must align with our values. That means we need to reject hierarchies, authoritarianism, scapegoating, performative neutrality, and anything that reproduces oppression or gatekeeping.
Movements grow when people feel welcome to change.
Political transformation is possible, but only if people have a way to step away from harmful beliefs without being shamed for their past. Creating pathways for people to unlearn harmful ideologies requires compassion, not condemnation. When someone begins questioning their beliefs, that vulnerability deserves respect, not ridicule for past views.
Hurt people hurt people.
People impacted by trauma, injustice, or misinformation often lash out. That doesn’t excuse harm, but it does explain it. Breaking these cycles requires creating healing spaces where people can process pain without perpetuating it.
Some ideas deserve debate. Others do not.
Not every viewpoint is valid, and not every question is asked in good faith. Debate can be educational, but it can also be weaponized to undermine people’s humanity.
We believe education should be inclusive, uncensored, and fearless. When official channels close, we open new ones.
